“It is physically and emotionally draining to be called upon to prove that these systems of power exist. For many of us, just struggling against them is enough — now you want us to break them down for you? Imagine having weights tied to your feet and a gag around your mouth, and then being asked to explain why you think you are at an unfair disadvantage. Imagine watching a video where a young man promises to kill women who chose not to sleep with him and then being forced to engage with the idea that maybe you are just a hysterical feminist seeing misogyny where there is none. It is incredibly painful to feel that in order for you to care about my safety, I have to win this verbal contest you have constructed “for fun.””

Anonymous asked: I appreciate what you're going for, yet I have my disagreements. This is my opinion, no need for pissy comments. So, here goes. It's the internet, with millions of sites. Can't you just IGNORE 4chan? That'd be a reasonable thing to do.
a-random-mod:
shutdown4chan:
Can’t you just IGNORE the nazis?
Can’t you just IGNORE 9/11?
Can’t you just IGNORE that gaping flesh wound in your neck?
No, bad things happen when you live in ignorance. Innocent people die.
While 4chan can be considered quite small when compared to the rest of the internet (facebook, tumblr, twitter etc) that doesn’t mean they don’t have a disproportionate level of power. They’ve hacked politicians and governments, they’ve hacked major tech companies and used their technical superiority to harass normal people to the point of suicide.
It’s almost like saying the wealthiest 1% have no power over the 99%.
Racism is unacceptable, even if their numbers are apparently small. Racism is like a cancer that’s just waiting to grow uncontrollably and destroy an otherwise healthy society. The only known treatment for cancer is to identify it early and hit it hard. You need to fight it with everything you have.
4chan is the racist 1%
4chan is a racist cancer
We are the 99% and it’s time to fight this cancer.
Pretty sure some people would get offended by you comparing an internet website to the fucking holocaust and 9/11.
Mainly, the people who witnessed it and the people who had to fight wars because of it. At the moment, you are actually worse than 4chan because you’re actually serious in the comparison. Congrats, you’re even worse than the thing that you are trying to fight.
Maybe if the USA wasn’t so intolerant to Islam we would not have had 9/11
Maybe if the Nazis weren’t so intolerant to Judaism we would not have had a holocaust
I’m confident the victims of these atrocities would agree with me that we must do what we can to stop intolerance before it’s too late. It’s actually probably quite insulting to suggest that we stay ignorant.

Several people have pointed out to me that the use of a swastika in the logo was confusing and could accidentally give the impression that we support nazism.
We apologise sincerely for any mixed messages and offence caused. The goal was to make the connection between 4chan and nazism because in recent days Anonymous have been distributing nazi propaganda in an anti-semetic “recruitment” campaign

Anonymous asked: Are you sure you really want to annoy 4chan? I understand where you're coming from and really appreciate it, I really do. But why? They attacked my friend one time because they found out she was transgender, for no other reason than they knew her name and the fact her gender intimidated them. They sent photoshopped nude pictures of her to her principle and made accusations of child porn. It's just, I appreciate your efforts but I don't want you to suffer for it. Are you sure about this?
Your story is exactly why this blog is necessary. We have several web developers on our team who are deeply familiar with the tactics of 4chan and Anonymous, please don’t worry about us. We have taken action to protect ourselves and are prepared to front this campaign.
I want to reassure all of our supporters that it’s highly unlikely 4chan will target you in particular. The honest truth is, they’re largely impotent losers who thrive on the previous “successful operations” under the Anonymous name.
The safest advice I can offer right now is to avoid using an account that uses your real life name when you support #ShutDown4chan
These people are relentless and will do anything to hurt anyone who doesn’t agree with them. This isn’t a joke. This can literally mean life or death for some people.
Stay safe.
Much love from SD4C
